A Loo of One's Own: A Treasure Map from Home Hill to Parliament

When:  Dec 7, 2025 from 11:00 to 13:00 (ET)
Set in the home of Dame Enid Lyons, the first woman elected to the House of Representatives and the first to serve in Federal Cabinet, and shared with Australian Prime Minister Joseph Lyons, this family-friendly event reimagines the domestic origins of public leadership. After hearing A Loo of One’s Own read aloud by author Eleri Harris, participants of all ages are invited on a scavenger hunt through the rooms and gardens of Home Hill, uncovering spatial clues about Enid’s home, private life, and the place that inspired her path into politics. The event invites participants to consider how ordinary spaces, kitchens, hallways, and front steps, can become the beginnings of extraordinary ideas about voice, equality, and change.
