Research into Practice: Modern Methods of Construction

When:  Feb 12, 2026 from 13:00 to 14:00 (ET)
In this CPD session, Industrialised Construction otherwise known as Modern Methods of Construction  (MMC) will be presented through the lens of Building 4.0 CRC – a Commonwealth-funded, collaborative industry and academic research hub that since 2021 has executed more than 80 research projects under the broad umbrella of “Industry 4.0” and its potential to transform building through increased digitalisation, industrialisation, sustainability and new ways of working. In the context of the national focus upon housing targets, affordability, workforce capacity and other imperatives, this session will provide an in-depth look at the MMC-related work of Building 4.0 CRC and its partners in government and industry. This includes the development of new building systems, regulatory change, skills, training and educational initiatives, and new business models. Architects and designers attending this session can learn about the opportunities to help lead in the national adoption of MMC as one of the means to address the productivity, quality, and environmental and social sustainability of our built environment.
